Navigating the Digital Nomad Law requires more than just paperwork; it requires interpreting your employment status correctly. We are licensed lawyers who understand the difference between a Contractor, an Employee, and a Ltd Company Director.

  • Contract Optimization: We review your US contract to ensure it explicitly allows “International Teleworking”—a key requirement that gets many DIY applications rejected.

  • Family Application Strategy: Moving with a partner or children? We calculate the exact extra financial means required and structure the application so the whole family is approved simultaneously.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I apply while in Spain as a tourist?

YES, and it is recommended. US citizens can enter Spain visa-free as tourists (90 days). If you apply during this period, you get a 3-Year permit immediately. If you apply from the Spanish Consulate in the US, you only get a 1-year visa.

Will I be double taxed?

Generally, no. There is a Double Taxation Treaty between the US and Spain. Plus, the Digital Nomad Visa allows you to apply for the "Beckham Law", fixing your Spanish tax rate at 24% and often exempting other foreign assets from wealth tax.

What about Social Security?

If you are an employee (W2), your company can request a "Certificate of Coverage" from the SSA in the US, allowing you to stay in the US system. If you are a freelancer (1099), you will likely need to register as "Autónomo" in Spain.
